The project proposal "Enhancing the green infrastructure in the city of Veliko Tarnovo through the improvement of territories with unfavorable socio-economic characteristics" is an integrated project idea, including infrastructure measures from the sectors "Green urban infrastructure and security in public spaces", "Sustainable urban mobility, incl. urban mobility" and "Culture, sports and tourism". The project proposal builds on the targeted policy of the municipal administration to establish Veliko Tarnovo as the cultural capital of the country, implementing environmentally friendly urban planning solutions and integrating an urbanized territory with a rich architectural and historical urban environment and the beauty of the natural features of the Yantra River - a determining factor for the unique organization of the territory. The goal will be achieved via 3 measures: Activity 1. Rehabilitation of the park alley of Sveta Gora Park and ensuring functional connection and road safety through the renovation of the road section from Sveta Gora Park to the Republican Road I-4 Class I. Activity 2. Separation of a new urban environment with the construction of a riverside zone "Kraibrezhna". Activity 3. Organization and management and measures for visibility, transparency and communication All measures and activities contribute to ensuring equality, social inclusion and non-discrimination. Results: Supported transition to carbon-neutral cities by enhancing investments in “Sveta Gora” Park and in the “Boruna” area; Development of alternative forms of transportation - pedestrian and bicycle traffic and increased safety of transportation in the urban environment; Improved environment through the construction of environmentally friendly infrastructure and efficient use of water-related resources; Developed recreation area along the newly constructed pedestrian zone "Kraibrezhna"; Enhanced opportunities for organizing outdoor cultural and social events.
