The aim of the project is to improve the quality of atmospheric air in Vidin municipality by reducing the emissions of FDP10 from domestic heating as one of the main sources of air pollution. The specific goal of the project is to replace the solid fuel heating devices (wood and coal), used by the population, with alternative forms of heating. The policy for cleaner air is long-term and should build on what has been achieved and not lose focus on continuing to solve the problem of deteriorating atmospheric air quality Vidin municipality. In this regard, the project proposal is a natural continuation of what was achieved by the implementation of the previous project Vidin municipality, financed by the Operational Programme "Environment" 2014-2020. The analysis of the "lessons learned" from the implementation of the first project of Vidin municipality, which was implemented in two phases, shows that the planning of the preparatory stage leads to an excessive delay in the actual replacement of the heating appliances during the second actual stage of project implementation. The same conclusion was drawn in the current "Environment" Programme 2021-2027 and is valid not only at the local level, but also for the entire country. Therefore, the current project of Vidin municipality will use the accumulated experience and difficulties from the initially lower interest of citizens as a result of insufficient public awareness and awareness of citizens that investments in clean air are actually investments in the health of their families. The environmental benefits of the implementation of the project will be reduced emissions of FDP10 and improved atmospheric air quality. The socio-economic benefits will be improved health and quality of life of the population of Vidin municipality and increased public awareness of the need to improve air quality.
