The overall goal of the project is to improve the ambient air quality in municipality Dimitrovgrad by reducing the emissions of PM from domestic heating as one of the main sources of air pollution. The specific objective of the project is to replace solid fuel heating devices of households with environmentally friendly alternatives. Preparatory activities have been carried out for the implementation of the project. Within the framework of the project, a communication campaign will be conducted among the population about the possibilities of replacing the solid fuel heating devices, explaining the possible alternative forms of heating and the requirements for including those who wish to participate in the replacement scheme; dismantling of the used heating devices and delivery and installation of the new heating devices/systems that will be carried out according to the accepted parameters and estimated costs. The environmental benefits of the project will be expressed in saved emissions PM and increased capacity to use energy from renewable sources for own consumption in the territory of the municipality. The socio-economic benefits are related to health protection, increasing the quality of life of the municipality's residents and increasing public awareness of air quality issues.
