The zoo in the town of Lovech was opened in 1961 and is the second largest zoo in Bulgaria in terms of area and number of animals. It is located in the middle of a natural forest, on an area of 110 decares, in the northeastern part of the "Strates" park, UPI III-allocated "For a zoo, botanical corner, restaurant and attractions". Over 450 animals of 63 species - representatives from different continents - are bred there. The municipality of Lovech, in its capacity as the owner of the zoo, performing activities under Article 58, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the Law on Biological Diversity, manages and maintains it independently, through officials. The planned activities for implementation in the PP are: Preparation for submission of the PP; Preparation of strategic documents for the development of the Zoo; Project organization and management, measures for visibility, transparency and communication, preparation of documentation for public procurement. Implementation activities are of a non-profit nature, consistent with the principle of effectiveness and efficiency and will lead to the achievement of the objectives of the procedure and the Priority "Biological diversity" of the POS 2021-2027, in accordance with the principle of "doing no significant harm", with the principles of equality and non-discrimination, ensuring equal opportunities for all. The expected results of the implementation of the project are developed strategic documents for the rehabilitation and modernization of the Lovech Zoo, as follows: 1. Development plan 2. A collection plan that includes a propagation plan 3. Plan for conservation activities 4. Plan-schedule for the implementation of the development activities in the short-term and long-term plan 5. Prepared pre-investment and volumetric-structural studies according to art. 138 of the ZUT 6. Terms of reference for the preparation of an investment project for rehabilitation and modernization.
