This project offers a complex solution to the problems identified in ITDS and IDPs in the Bulgarian NWR regarding healthcare, education, sports, eco urban environment and building economic growth. The solution is based on the approved integrated concept BG16FFPR003-2.001-0021 ONE HEALTH STRAGETGY FOR NORTHWEST RREGION based on the same international initiative to achieve optimal health outcomes by recognizing the interconnection of humans, animals, plants and their shared environment. The project includes following measures: 1. HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE - investments in diagnostic equipment for cardiovascular and oncological diseases In hospitals and municipalities, purchase of mobile health clinics and mobile defibrillators to support GPs, implementation of telemedicine and building a collaborative network of health centres in the NWR to improve the access to healthcare specialists in small and remote settlements. 2. EDUCATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND EQUIPMENT - construction of a Veterinary Faculty with a clinic for small animals at MU Pleven, the 1st in Northern Bulgaria, and modernization of the training base of the Veterinary High School in Lovech to address the needs of farming industry. 3. GREEN URBAN ENVIRONMENT - development of green urban areas for recreation and sports in Pleven and Lovech municipalities to promote an active lifestyle and prevention of cardiovascular and oncological diseases. The measures build upon the available local potential and are a step towards creating an innovative medical cluster in the NWR.
