The Municipality of Pleven is a direct beneficiary of procedure No BG16FFPR002-2.004 "Measures for the construction, expansion and/or upgrading of municipal/regional systems for separate collection and recycling of biodegradable waste - second" under Priority 2 "Waste" of the Environment Programme 2021-2027 as the owner of the composting plant and the property where it is located. Currently, a biodegradable waste composting plant has been built on the territory of the municipality of Pleven, serving the municipalities of Pleven, Dolna Mitropolia, Dolni Dabnik, Pordim, Iskar and Gulyantsi. The present investment proposal provides for the upgrade/improvement of the existing installation for the reception and recycling of 12 532.21 t/y of separately collected food waste (at 100% collected), namely 7131.86 t/y and garden waste (at 100% collected), namely 5400.45 t/y. /year of biodegradable municipal waste generated from the territory of the municipality of Pleven and technological improvement of the open composting of the wood waste of the municipality of Pleven and of all biodegradable waste of all municipalities of the Pleven MSWP, treated to date. The upgrading/improvement of the existing composting plant includes new technology for indoor composting for food waste through aerobic composting bioreactors and process improvement and incorporation of new facilities for outdoor composting of the garden and wood waste of the municipality of Pleven and of all biodegradable waste of all municipalities of the Pleven RBMP.
