The PP includes the construction of 1 pc.a municipal composting plant for the recycling of biodegradable household waste for the needs of the Municipality, as well as the construction of a municipal system for the separate collection and transportation of 100% of the generated biodegradable waste (BW) from the territory of the Municipality. The installation will be built near Reg. landfill for solid waste Silistra. For the needs of the installation, a site on the territory of the Municipality with an area of 37 decares has been allocated, on which a regional separation installation will also be built according to a contract between the MRDPW and the Municipality through Agreement RD-02-30-735/25.04.2024. The scope of the current project incl. the construction of a municipal installation for recycling biodegradable waste, as well as the accompanying infrastructure for its operation, the system for separate collection and transportation of BW, according to the Civil Code. In order to avoid double funding, all activities incl. in the scope of the project are planned so that they don't follow the contract with the Ministry of AF, excluding the construction of the composting plant. The Municipality designed in 2011 and subsequently updated its investment project for the construction of a composting plant to meet current regulatory and environmental requirements.The design capacity of the composting plant is 5570,59 t/y. biodegradable waste. With the implement. of this project, a system for the separate collection of biodegradable waste will be introduced in the territory of the Municipality. For its introduction, the necessary equipment for collecting and transporting biodegradable waste, as well as containers for separate collection, will be delivered.Campaigns and activities will also be held to increase the awareness of the population in the territory of the Municipality regarding the activities related to the introduction of separate collection of BW.
