The project proposal is aimed at upgrading the capacity of a composting installation in order to organize the separate collection of biodegradable waste from the population of the Municipality of Haskovo and their treatment through composting. In Haskovo municipality, a well-functioning garbage collection and garbage removal system has been built. For optimal waste collection, it is necessary to provide suitable containers and ensure their removal. The project envisages the purchase of containers and trucks for the removal of food waste, as well as the reconstruction of 5 of the composting cells located under a shed, and the remaining 5 cells will be used as receiving areas and storage areas for finished compost. All households, schools, kindergartens, catering establishments, commercial establishments, hotels, hospitals and others will be covered. In the municipality of Haskovo, there is still no built-in system for separate collection and transportation of biodegradable and bio-waste, and no system for family composting of garden waste has been introduced. Containers for the separate collection of green biowaste have not yet been introduced, and this leads to their significant share in mixed household waste.
