The investment proposal for Construction of a composting plant for biodegradable waste for the needs of the RWMS-Shumen, which serves the municipalities Shumen and Novi Pazar" under Procedure BG16FFPR002-2.003 "Measures for the construction, expansion and/or upgrading of municipal/regional systems for separate collection and recycling of biodegradable waste" under the Environment Programme 2021-2027 is aimed at building systems for separate collection of biodegradable municipal waste in the municipalities of Shumen and Novi Pazar and their subsequent recycling, in response to the need for mandatory separate collection of bio-waste and in support of achieving the 2030 targets for separate collection and recycling and for reducing the quantities of landfilled municipal waste identified in the NWMP 2021-2028. The project envisages the purchase of the necessary containers and equipment for the separate collection of the entire amount of biodegradable municipal waste on the territory of the municipalities and the construction of a composting plant on property ID 83510.570.4, in the locality of "Cherniyvets" on the CM of the q. Divdyadovo, municipality of Shumen, to serve the municipalities of Shumen and Novi Pazar from the RWMS - Shumen. Systems for smart management of biodegradable municipal waste will be introduced on the territory of the municipalities of Shumen and Novi Pazar in order to optimize the processes of biodegradable municipal waste management and improve the quality of life in the municipalities. A number of measures will be implemented to raise awareness and behaviour for sustainable waste management. The implementation of the project will contribute to a large extent to the diversion of up to 100% of the amount of landfilled biodegradable municipal waste in the municipalities of Shumen and Novi Pazar, to the reduction of the amount of landfilled municipal waste and to the increase of the amount of recycled waste on the territory of the RWMS - Shumen.
