The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of air quality by reducing the excessive levels of fine dust particles (FDP10) on the territory of Sofia Municipality from secondary dusting through measures for landscaping in the urban environment. The specific goal of the project is to build a green infrastructure to reduce secondary dusting in an urban environment. The project includes preparatory activities necessary for the preparation of the project proposal and main activities. The main activities are: construction of green infrastructure to reduce secondary dust in the urban environment and construction of irrigation systems. The implementation of the project will also contribute to the fulfillment of the country's commitments in the sector and the achievement of goals arising from European and national legislation, which are conditioned by a Decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union for non-compliance with the norms for the content of FDP10 in the air in agglomerations and areas of the country and the non-fulfilment of the obligations under Directive 2008/50/EC regarding the maximum permissible values of dust particles in the air. The environmental benefits of the project will be expressed in the amount of emissions FDP10 saved. The socio-economic benefits are related to protecting the health and increasing the quality of life of the residents of Sofia Municipality, improving working and recreational conditions for both residents and guests of the municipality, increasing public awareness of air quality issues etc.
