The project is aimed at promoting the innovative and interdisciplinary training of the doctoral students to increase the quality of teaching, applicability of research results and support the development of an innovative economy with a focus on Industry 5.0, Green transition, Blue growth or Innovative strategy for smart specialization, as well as the demands of the regional labour market by improving the qualification, practical skills and the interest of young researchers at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM) for research activities in the following professional areas: 5.10 Chemical Technologies, 5.6 Materials and Material Science, 5.2 Electronics, electrotechnics and automatics, 5.9 Metallurgy, 4.2 Chemical Sciences, 5.11 Biotechnologies and 5.13 General engineering. The project envisages to create supportive environment for research and development activities and professional development by: establishment of a doctoral school, organizing of trainings in specific scientific fields, support for international and domestic mobility for implementation of research tasks, support for research dissemination and collaboration, increasing the potential for technology transfer of the research results, enhancement of the collaboration with industry, development of international research networks, increasing the interest of industrial specialist to doctoral studies. Twenty PhD students will be enrolled, who are interested in scientific research on topics related to the activities of a company in which they are employed or would like to apply for a position, as well as in fundamental and applied research and academic carrier. The project includes also a group of members of the academic staff of the UCTM, engaged with doctoral trainings. As a result of development of favorable environment for project-based PhD study it is expected to increase the quality of the research results and the training of the highly qualified specialists.
