We will investigate a critical step that precedes the infection of the liver by the sporozoite of the malaria parasite, the mosquito-borne infectious stage. This stage is the ‘homing’ for the liver. To do this, we will combine real-time imaging techniques with genetic manipulation technologies in the parasites and perform functional studies.
