Opportunity for everyone

The national project focuses on situations in which segregation in the education of children and pupils from CLLD in the mainstream education stream may or does occur in the sense of the definition of segregation in education and upbringing enshrined in Act 245/2008 Coll. (School Act). The project responds to an action brought by the European Commission before the Court of Justice of the EU against the Slovak Republic on the grounds of segregation of Roma children in the school system, as well as to several judgments of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic in the matter of segregation of Roma pupils in primary school education. The implementation of the objectives and activities of the national project will contribute to strengthening the implementation of desegregation and inclusive measures in the education process, stemming from the Government Programme Statement, as well as relevant strategic documents, including the Recovery and Resilience Plan (Component 6), the Strategy for Roma Equality, Inclusion and Participation 2030 and others. This would also respond to the first principle of the European Pillar of Social Rights, which underlines that: “Everyone has the right to quality and inclusive education, training and lifelong learning in order to maintain and acquire skills that enable them to participate fully in society and manage successfully transitions in the labour market”.
