The proposed operation falls under the Operational Programme of Sterea Ellada in the Priority Axis Supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy in all sectors and the Specific Objective Supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy in all sectors In particular in the investment Promotion of low-carbon strategies for all types of areas especially for urban areas including the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and adaptation measures regarding the mitigation of impacts The operation is a high-priority investment as it is foreseen as a proposed action of Intervention Π7 of the approved Action Plan of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy of the Municipality of Chalkida entitled Chalkida Sustainable Urban Development Strategy Sustainable and Smart City The implementation of the project for the upgrading of an area of 36012sqm of the Central Road Axis of E Venizelou 28 October will take place in a length of 1242m with the parallel construction of a cycling route of a total length of 2305m. It is part of the overall strategy of the Municipality of Chalkida to promote the reformation of Chalkida into a sustainable and touristically attractive city and in particular the promotion of the historic city center as an emblematic place of high quality of life and traffic through the promotion of low carbon strategies and sustainable multimodal urban mobility.
