The project concerns the energy upgrading and integration of renewable energy applications in the school complex at 30 Kleanthous Street in Kato Toumpa, Municipality of Thessaloniki, where the 2nd and 4th Gymnasium of Toumpa are housed, the 20th Unified Lyceum of Thessaloniki Building 12 and 3 the 2nd Experimental Gymnasium and the 1st Experimental Lyceum Building 4 as well as a school gym Building 5 The main objectives of the project are the optimal energy shielding of the building facilities and the modernization of the facilities and the courtyard for the creation of a pilot educational complex both in terms of energy savings and in terms of energy production from Renewable Energy Sources RES. 629 In particular, the works of the project include thermal insulation of the shell, replacement of frames, installation of shaders, installation of geothermal heat pumps coupled with a geoalternator, replacement of radiators and indoor and outdoor lighting with new low energy bioclimatic interventions in the surrounding area with tree and shrub plantations, installation of an extensive type of planted roof in the 20th Lyceum building and installation of photovoltaics with a total power of 885 kWp. After the implementation of the project, buildings from energy efficiency class H buildings 12 and 3 and E buildings 4 and 5 of the KENAK Buildings Energy Performance Regulation are upgraded to energy class B Building 12 and 3 B Building 4 and B Building 5
