Restoration and promotion of the building block of the market of Dion B Phase Dion, a place of ancient worship of Olympian Zeus at the eastern foothills of Olympus, emerged as the sacred city of the Macedonians, while later on in its place was founded by Octavian Augustus in 3231 BC the Roman colony Colonia Iulia Augusta Diensis Dion is the most fully excavated site of the region of Olympus and one of the largest excavations of modern times in Greece. The present project concerns the protection and restoration of this most important square of the city and the overall improvement and enhancement of the area by extending the visitor route and upgrading the information services The intervention concerns the entire square of the market with decent work while the protection and restoration works focus on the market square and the southwestern part of the city The project aims on the one hand to highlight the whole market and on the other hand to improve the readability and visibility of the site while contributing substantially to the complementarity and further networking of the important archaeological sites and monuments of the area with multiplier effects in the context of cultural and educational tourism that is fed by the visiting students a wide audience of the Archaeological Park of Dion of which it is an integral partshare on FacebookTwitterLinkedinEmailreport an issue
