The construction of Phase B of the internal rainwater drainage network of the Municipality of Kalamaria aims at the overall protection of the Municipality of Kalamaria from flooding phenomena as well as at the flood protection of three stations of the Thessaloniki METRO. The aim of the project is to conduct the rainwater of the wider upstream area of the road of Pontos and up to the regional ditch of the Municipality of Kalamaria with the regional ditch as an intermediate recipient and the Thermaikos Gulf as the final recipient. as it diverts the rainwater of a total area of 90 hectares directly to the Regional Trench through the main collector located on Pontou Street The non-construction of the project functionally cancels the newly constructed rainwater drainage works southwest of Pontou Street from Agios Nikolaos Street to Isiodou Street as they are unable to receive rainwater runoff from the upstream basins
