The conservation works will highlight one of the most remarkable and few surviving frescoes of Mount Athos dating to the second half of the 14th century. Furthermore, with the removal of the newer wooden iconostasis, the original Byzantine marble iconostasis of the church will be revealed, as it is probably related to its first building phase at the end of the 12th century.
