The project concerns a Creation of a Green Point VS b Supply of Cutting Bulk C Biowaste Collection and d Household Composting in the Municipality of Karditsa The VS offers the possibility of separate collection of a series of materials that can be led to recycling or reuse The materials will be presented by the users with their own means and will be temporarily stored in means of collection of various characteristics Bulk materials that are not suitable for reuse will be shredded The central VS of Karditsa will mainly serve the city of Karditsa and nearby settlements In total it is expected to serve about 43590 residents, i.e. about 77 of the total population of the Municipality The biowaste collection network will initially serve the most densely populated areas of the city of Karditsa with coverage of 60 of the total population of the Municipality and 88 of the city The collected biowaste will be transferred for composting treatment to the under implementation Waste Treatment Unit West Thessaly The home composting program will be developed in the first phase in the areas that will not be covered by the biowaste collection system and will concern the distribution of home composting bins to selected households in about 23 of the households of the Municipality that will express interest in participating The development of the biowaste management system includes the supply of home composting bins of the equipment for the development of the biowaste collection network.
