The proposed project concerns the creation of a modern cultural space in the complex of seven 7 Neoria in the Venetian Port of Chania, which are designated as a monument of the Ministry of Culture28EBA28129112003 Government Gazette 97AAP2012 It is proposed to consolidate the monument by strengthening its static carrier and insulating the domes after the removal of the misguided subsequent interventions that the monumental complex has undergone during its long history In the interior of the building complex two units are created that can operate either individually or in combination The first section includes the Neoria N1 to N4 and is planned to function as a space for temporary exhibitions and other events The second section includes the Neoria N6 and N7 and is planned to host a space for speeches and stage arts while it also includes office spaces and a refreshment hall The intermediate Neorio N5 is the entrance to the building complex and includes the shop and permanent exhibition of the monument The HM installation proposal provides for the energy upgrade of the monument The proposed interventions, which will be implemented with the supervision of the competent Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania, are expected to upgrade functionally and aesthetically one of the most important monuments of the Old Town of Chania, creating a unique multi-purpose cultural space preserving the historical memory and without unnecessary interventions At the same time the implementation of the act is expected to achieve immediate improvement of the quality of the urban space and adaptation to climate change by covering the needs of the redesign and revitalization of urban areas towards an improved environment especially that of the Old Town that has been characterized as an Archaeological site since 2011
