The cave Ideon Andron and its surrounding area are a monument of maximum archaeological value and area of special natural beauty Located on the eastern shores of Mount Ida on the plateau of Nida at an altitude of 1498 m and at a distance of 20 km from Anogia in the Prefecture of Rethymno It is one of the most important caves of Crete as it is mythologically connected with the god Zeus The archaeological research documented the uninterrupted human presence in the Ideon Andron from the 4th millennium BC to the 5th century AD.
