After the recent completion of a large part of the renovations carried out in recent years in the center of Kalamata as in the Central Square and the surrounding areas with significant widening of sidewalks, the pedestrianization of a large part of Aristomenous street and respectively of Chr Koumantou south of the central town hall, etc. so now it is proposed to continue similar interventions in the area of the historical center of Kalamata with the completion of the renovation on Anagnostaras street almost parallel to the pedestrian street of Aristomenous about 600 meters long and 8 meters wide. Today, after the creation of the pedestrian street of Aristomenous Street, the significant widening of its sidewalks and the recent redevelopment of the Central Square, the so-called commercial part of Anagnostara and Kolokotroni Streets was finally moved either to Aristomenous Street or to the area around the 23rd March Square, resulting in the closure of many shops and the creation of an image of abandonment that is not in line with the history and size of the city.
