Configuration of an Entrance Gate to Piraeus for cruise visitors Promotion of a central and cultural route with interventions in the public space

The project concerns the redevelopment and interconnection of 3 main road axes Charilaou Trikoupi Heroes Polytechnic and II Merarchia and 3 sites of special archaeological and cultural interest Archaeological Museum of Piraeus Archaeological site of Rodiri Square and Archaeological site of Terpsithea Square in the center of Piraeus The above mentioned areas are mainly shaped in relation to cruise visitors and generally pedestrian walkers and visitors of Piraeus especially those who move between the tourist port of Zea and the main port and specifically the mooring section of cruise ships The regeneration and interconnection of the main road axes with the archaeological sites includes the promotion of ancient monuments with modern elegant interventions in their environments and public spaces so as to highlight the relationship of ancient with modern Piraeus in a continuation of the history of the city In this way through the historical continuity and creation of modern landmarks routes are planned that upgrade the directly accessible urban environment of the city while also being tourist routes With the unification of the archaeological sites, a network is created which will include as prominent elements the monuments and the archaeological sites, but will also incorporate green spaces, free spaces and public recreation areas and public facilities
