The Castle Township of Skyros is a uniquely preserved building ensemble of fortified ecclesiastical and folk architecture of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine period It was closed to the public after the earthquake of 2001 In 2019, after the restoration of the church of Panagia Episkopi and the medieval reservoir as well as part of the fortified enclosure, a part of the archaeological site became accessible to the public.
