Law N46622020 on the National Crisis and Risk Management Mechanism, restructuring the Secretariat-General for Civil Protection, upgrading the civil protection volunteering system, reorganising the fire brigade and other provisions, as amended and in force, established a National Crisis and Hazard Management Mechanism NatCHAMM, hereinafter referred to as the National Mechanism, which covers the entire cycle of disaster management and constitutes all the current operational and administrative structures and functions of Civil Protection. The National Mechanism has as its priorities, on the one hand, the prevention of preparedness and the protection of the life of the health and property of citizens of the environment, the cultural heritage, the infrastructure of the resources of the critical services of tangible and intangible goods from natural and technological disasters and other threats of related origin that cause or are likely to cause emergencies in a peaceful period, and, on the other hand, the reduction of risk and the remedying and minimising of their consequences.
