The katholikon of the Holy Monastery of Ellinika Paleokastro dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is an important monument of the 13th century that is automatically protected by the provisions of Law 48582021 It is a cruciform inscribed church of the variant of simple distyles In the east, a rectangular arch of a sacred step emerges, while the arches of transgressions are recorded in the thickness of the eastern wall The temple is built with large rectangular stone blocks looted by buildings of Ancient Thuria The monument has undergone mainly small-scale repairs in its long history and is one of the few in Messinia that due to its excellent construction is preserved intact.
