The project of renovation of the heating system of Rijeka envisages the modernization of 7 heating systems in such a way that 3 systems will be connected into one, while 1 system will be modernized independently. The modernization of each system involves the reconstruction of the production facility to become an energy efficient system using high-efficiency cogeneration and renewable energy sources and the reconstruction of the distribution hot water network of each of the seven systems. Modernisation and reconstruction of production facilities was carried out by 31 December 2023, while the modernisation and reconstruction of the distribution hot water network is expected in the phase, with 1.8 km of the hot water network being reconstructed by 31 December 2023, and 8.5 km remaining for reconstruction in Phase II.
