The Brussels Environment project aims to green the recreation courses of 10 schools in the Brussels-Capital Region, covering 2 hectares and involving 120,000 people. The pilot experiment, Operation Re-creation, developed a participatory methodology for designing school gardens, creating a support network and identifying brakes and levers. The results indicate that schools are motivated for greening, requiring technical, ecological, pedagogical and participatory support. The opening of courses to the public is a major objective, with lessons learned to ensure school autonomy and ecological management.
