In Anzegem, an innovative heat network is being installed by Intercommunale Leiedal in the gas-free De Voerman district. This network, which works on the basis of aquathermia, draws energy from the main drinking water pipe and offers a sustainable solution for heating and cooling. It is a 5th generation heat network with a neutral temperature, where local heat pumps convert the energy for domestic use. This unique project also enables passive cooling and actively engages residents as grid owners and managers, through a renewable energy community.
