The legislation states that from 2025 50% of packaging materials must be recycled and from 2030 each new packaging material must contain 10 to 35% recycled material, from 2030 textile materials must no longer contain harmful substances, recycling companies must create clarity when a product is waste or becomes a raw material again. In order for textiles, plastics and recycling companies to meet the ambitious targets set by the European Commission, they must have the guarantee that their products will not contain banned substances at the end of their lives. We want to support the companies through this project by transforming an existing local into a suitable lab space with the necessary equipment to test materials at the end of life for the presence or absence of harmful substances, degradation products formed during production or use that lead to lesser properties and therefore an inferior product as well as odour. By setting up this lab, more products will be able to be recycled into high-quality products (no downcycling) and fewer new raw materials will have to be used. This also means a valorisation of their company and consumer waste for the benefit of their business.
