The number of cyclists on fast road F1 has increased sharply in recent years. In order to further guarantee and improve the flow, safety and attractiveness, efforts are being made throughout the entire route to avoid intersections. At the Posthof Bridge and the Arbeidersstraat, the F1 crosses the Arbeidersstraat and the Ringfietspad. This results in a large number of turning and weaving movements at short distances, in combination with various slopes, and a peak in cycling intensities, with sometimes more than 1100 cyclists per rush hour. The construction of a bicycle bridge over the Arbeidersstraat that connects to the Posthofbrug improves the flow for both the cycle ostrade and the transverse (bicycle) traffic.
