In Opwijk, the F27 Leirekensroute, a bicycle highway on the former railway link Londerzeel-Aalst, crosses with the N47 Steenweg on Dendermonde. This stone road processes more than 10,000 vehicles, including hundreds of trucks, at high speeds every day. To ensure the safety of cyclists and pedestrians and improve the quality of cycling on the cycle highway, the ERDF project includes the construction of the bicycle bridge and associated access ramps.
