In the network of bicycle highways in East Flanders, the bicycle highways F7 Gent-Deinze-Waregem-Kortrijk and F45 Gent-Oudenaarde are important bicycle axes. Every day they attract several thousand cyclists, between the large residential areas, but also to and between the respective cities, which with the many places of employment, schools, services and a cultural and commercial offer are real attraction poles. By constructing two bicycle tunnels on the F45 and F7 in De Pinte under the L86 railway line, a safe, direct, comfortable and readable upper-local cycling route will be realized. This means even more cyclists, a modal shift is promoted. Good for climate, health, and affordable mobility.
