INNOPGPLAN

INNOPGPLAN focuses on the optimization and expansion of the SAFETY96 screening platform. This platform, which was recently developed, is aimed at evaluating and predicting the effects of components and/or treatments on plant growth and crop yield. Within the INNOPGPLAN project, the platform will be further improved with new climate chambers and supplemented with an innovative, camera-based system that enables dynamic monitoring of plant growth and health. The advanced screening platform represents an enormous added value in the selection procedure within the product development of biostimulants or biopesticides, crucial for ensuring sustainable crop production. Furthermore, INNOPGPLAN enables targeted research within the transition to sustainable agriculture with a focus on the valorisation of all biomass flows, such as extraction of high-quality plant components from residual fractions of crops, i.e. ‘bioceuticals’ and the reuse of organic residual flows as a natural resource, i.e. biochar. Both objectives contribute to a resilient agriculture with added value and focus on reducing climate change by, among other things, limiting excessive pesticide use (e.g. through the development of biopesticides), limiting the excessive presence of nutrients (e.g. through the development of biostimulants), and reducing greenhouse gas emissions (e.g. CO2 reduction through biochar production),... This research infrastructure supports strategies in the search for sustainable solutions within the transition to sustainable agriculture (PLANET), and stimulates new B2B collaborations (PROFIT) that both benefit human health (PEOPLE).
