Today, the refuge no longer meets the expectations of customers and is not as attractive as it could be in terms of the exceptional environment, the diversity of possible activities (and their development potential). A project to rebuild the refuge has therefore been considered to meet the expectations of users and customers but also of tourism stakeholders in the Pyrenees. Reconstruction will meet four main objectives: preserving the soul of the historic refuge; implementing a high-quality environmental renovation; participate in the development of sustainable tourism and accessibility to the mountains for all; carry out a project that promotes increased economic benefits for the valley. The beneficiaries of the project will be: all clients and users of the shelter with better reception conditions at the shelter; the guardians of the refuge and the mountain professionals. The objective is to accommodate 3,500 nights per year after renovation.
