Phase 3 of the Larnaka Sewerage System

Phase 3 of the Larnaka Sewerage System concerns the construction of urban wastewater collection networks and pumping stations in the settlements of Dromolaxia-Meneos, Kiti and Pervolia and their transportation to the existing Larnaka Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project includes, among others, gravity networks with a length of approximately 155.5 km, a network of central depressive pipelines (pressure pipelines) with a length of approximately 10.5 km and eight (8) central sewage pumping stations. The operation of the project is expected to cover the needs of the 29,000 inhabitants (estimate for 2020) of the area, while a 40-year forecast was made for 40,000 inhabitants until 2060 (the estimate was made around the end of 2020 using the latest available data based on the 2011 population census). The implementation of the project will cover the compliance requirements of the Republic of Cyprus with the European Directive on Urban Waste Water Treatment 91/271/EEC for the agglomerations of Kiti, Pervolia, Dromolaxia-Meneos, which fall under the implementation programme of this Directive.
