Develop and demonstrate an intelligent cooling system for the steel unit by closing and integrating water cycles, increasing the reliability of the metallurgical process and improving the efficiency of industrial cooling water use.

The aim of this project is to carry out industrial research and experimental development work, which will result in the development of an innovative technological and technological solution in the field of cooling of metallurgical production units (including a demonstration cooling installation). Polish iron metallurgy is based on iron-based materials from eastern directions and national coals for the production of blast furnace coke, which requires process innovation consisting of: 1. Develop an intelligent cooling plate that adjusts the cooling intensity to locally varying working conditions of the furnace through an integrated measuring system, which will allow to extend the work of the plate and avoid uncontrolled water leaks. The cooling intensity will be adjusted by activating additional water cycles. If the system is fully functional, a global innovation can be achieved. 2. Optimisation of the topological system of plate hydraulic connections (parallel/series connections, determination of the optimal size of refrigeration sections), separation, closure and continuous monitoring of cooling systems, which will allow for more efficient use of cooling energy and reducing water losses. In addition, this will reduce the energy consumption needed to supply the pumps. Achieving the objectives of the project will: reducing CO2 emissions, reducing fuel consumption, reducing electricity consumption and reducing cooling water will minimise the environmental impact of the process.
