As part of the project, industrial research and development will be carried out, which will result in obtaining a new product, i.e. railway rails with a length of 120 m, with significantly better performance compared to standard rails in the R260 steel grade, currently manufactured in ArcelorMittal Poland S.A Branch Dąbrowa Górnicza. The objective of the project will be achieved by installing a pilot line for heat treatment of rails in the existing rolling line of railway rail production. In order to determine the optimal chemical composition of the steel and to verify the mechanical properties of the material, test smelting (laboratory scale) and tests on samples of rail steel under experimental rolling under laboratory conditions and different heat treatment variants (methodes) shall be performed to confirm the physical levels of rail steel. This will be the basis for determining the technological parameters of the pilot line, in which accelerated cooling after rolling will be carried out, which will allow the selection of individual equipment of the pilot line and their supplier, installation in the Walcownia AMP S.A. Plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza and further industrial research and development work. As part of the project, several tests will be carried out of accelerated cooling of rails and laboratory tests to check the characteristics of rails obtained in reception tests. In addition, qualification tests will be carried out in industrial research. The next phase of the project will be the exploitation of new heat-processed rails built in different locations (a straight section, arc of the track) of the ArcelorMittal Poland S.A.
