Developing an innovative, first-class, low-molecular, double-oriented, immunomodulatory and cytotoxic therapy as a candidate for the treatment of leukaemias and solid tumours

The aim of the project is to develop a first-in-class, an innovative dual inhibitor that removes immunosuppression and cytotoxic cancer cells, as well as its clinical evaluation as a candidate for the treatment of selected solid tumours and leukemias. Within the framework of the project, the applicant envisages the selection and validation of molecular biomarker, which will help assess the effectiveness of therapy. Cancer has become one of the most common diseases in the world, matching the incidence of cardiovascular disorders and diabetes (WHO, Globocan 2018). Despite the enormous advances in medicine, there is still a high demand for new and effective anticancer medicines. One of the most important discoveries is the use in oncological treatment of immunotherapy. Due to its promising clinical effects, new molecular targets are being sought for medicines in this area. Studies indicate that TAM kinase-dependent pathways play an important role in many cancers, both solid tumours (e.g. lung cancer) and leukaemia (e.g., leukaemia). AML). The project plans to develop dual-acting chemicals – targeting TAM receptor kinases (TYRO3, AXL and MER) and/or FLT3. This medicine will be used in the treatment of solid tumours (e.g. NSCLC) and haematological (e.g. AML). In the treatment of solid tumours, the double effect will be based on MER and AXL, and in leukaemias on AXL/FLT3 and MER/FLT3 kinase. Pursuant to Article 25 of Regulation (EC) No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain types of aid compatible with the internal market in the application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty (OJ L. I'm sorry. EU L 187/1 of 26.06.2014).
