Development of a prototype of a multi-voltage electric rail vehicle with reconfigurable passenger composition

The purpose of the project implemented by PESA Bydgoszcz S.A. Szynowe S.A. (hereinafter: Pesa or Company) is to carry out research works which will result in the development of a modern, multi-voltage electric traction unit (hereinafter: EZT). The innovativeness of the vehicle will be a unique possibility for the customer to reform the vehicle by adding warehouses, in the customer’s maintenance workshop, without the participation of the Company’s engineers. The planned work under the Project consists of the following stages: Step I – Carrying out industrial tests to determine the desired technical and structural parameters of a new multi-voltage EZT; Step II – Carrying out industrial research using CAD simulation to design a new EZT; Step III – Development of an innovative multi-voltage traction unit prototype on a real scale; Step IV – Conducting tests of a new prototype multi-voltage traction unit with the possibility of reconfiguring the trains. The developed prototype of multi-voltage and reconfigurable EZT will be the starting point for creating a new family of vehicles offered by the Company. It will be a direct response to the market demand identified by passenger carriers in Europe, in particular on the Czech market. The possibility of compiling trains with the number of passenger seats corresponding to the passenger stream on a given route will allow the carrier to generate savings due to lower current demand for journeys where the occupancy of the train is lower than the standard number of seats. Article 25 of EC Regulation No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain types of aid compatible with the internal market in the application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty (OJ 107 and 108 of the Treaty). I'm sorry. EU L 187/1 of 26.06.2014)
