The subject of the project is research and development on the development of an innovative method of lactic acid (LA) from organic raw materials using micro-organisms in the world and country. The aim of the project is to achieve by the developed technology IX level of technological readiness and implementation of research results after the end of the R & D project. Currently, the concept and future application of the technology have been defined. The project’s objective will be achieved through industrial research and development planned in the project. The project will be implemented within 36 months, within three stages of work: INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH: Step 1 – laboratory tests, laboratory scale tests, 22 months; DEVELOPMENT: Step 2 – construction of the prototype on a quarter-technical scale, verification of technology under operational conditions, 10 months; Step 3 – technology demonstration, validation and optimisation, 4 months. For the project, resources will be provided to ensure that the work can be completed successfully: — research and management staff experienced in the implementation of R & D projects; — the test laboratory and the necessary equipment; — cooperation with subcontractors of part of R & D works; — necessary financial resources. The project will result in the implementation of the first installation in Poland based on the world’s innovative technology of manufacturing LA using waste from the agri-food and biorefinery industries. Currently, there is no technology in the world to convert glycerin as waste from biodiesel to lactic acid. In addition, in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe there is no installation enabling full technical production of LA. Lactic acid is
