Use of targeted protein degradation technology in the treatment of psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Autoimmune diseases, as chronic and incurable diseases, are a very serious burden on societies, patients and their families. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriasis suffer from 500 million people worldwide, and there is no effective treatment for 400 million. Medicines used so far are either ineffective or have serious side effects or because of pricing policies are not available to patients. Medicines used to treat RA, psoriasis or lupus erythematosus (TRU) and non-specific bowel inflammation (NSI), which is particularly important, are administered intravenously or subcutaneously rather than by the optimal oral route. Captor Therapeutics is a globally recognised company as one of the leaders of breakthrough protein degradation technology. Using this technology, the applicant will identify and develop new, first-class oral medications targeting key causes of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and ulcerative colitis. Captor Therapeutics will develop drugs that degrade one of the most important molecular targets in autoimmune diseases, two protein kinases – one involved in the JAK-STAT signal pathway and the second mediating activation of T lymphocytes. These degraders will be tested in preclinical studies in animal models and then in the first phase of clinical trials in humans. Drug candidates will open up new treatment options for psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis and increase competitiveness in the treatment of auto-aggressive diseases, thereby contributing to greater availability for patients and consequently reducing the cost of medical care.
