The project involves carrying out industrial research and development work aimed at the implementation of an innovative and safe product, i.e. rail rails characterised by low residual stress levels in the rail foot, i.e. with a value of 120 MPa ± 25 MPa (maximum value according to PN-EN 13674-1:2011 is 250 MPa). The objective will be achieved as a result of the following actions: modifications to the current calibration of rollers (especially in the rail foot area), changes in the geometric characteristics of the working surface of rollers for rectifiers (vertical and horizontal) and conducting tests for rolling and straightening of railway rail types 60E1 and/or 60E2 with a length of 120 m after technological changes. Rails produced using innovative rolling and straightening technology will be sampled to measure residual stresses and analyse the test results. Obtaining residual stress values in the rail foot, within the range of 95 MPa – 145 MPa will be a prerequisite for implementing new technological solutions in the production of railway rails in Zakład Walcownia Duża AMP S.A. Branch Dąbrowa Górnicza. It is assumed that once the new technology is implemented, there will be a diffusion effect to other ArcelorMittal companies.
