The aim of the project is to develop a new Zn-Mg-Al coating applied to steel sheets in continuous galvanising process. The chemical composition of the coating shall be such that it protects all the properties and advantages of sheets coated with coatings for construction. The corrosion resistance of Zn-Mg-Al coatings is much better compared to Zn-only coatings. This allows thinner coatings to be used during the production process. The results of the project will be an important economic, social and environmental impact. They will be implemented in ArcelorMittal Poland, Swietochłowice branch. The Zn-Mg-Al coatings are well recognised, and the general and practical knowledge of these coatings is available in the ArcelorMittal group and will be used as a project output base. The innovative aspect of the project will be the development of a coating, in particular for the use of corrugated elements with inflections for the construction industry. The achievement of the target will require research mainly in the field of cold treatment of sheets with coatings, their wear processes and the adhesion of the coating to the steel substrate. Measures to determine the vulnerability of sheets with cold coatings will include optimisation of the Mg and Al content in the coating and the addition of other elements. In addition, studies on the impact of the sheet surface on the galvanising process are foreseen. Based on laboratory tests and numerical simulations, 2 chemical compositions of coatings will be selected for use in industrial trials. These tests will be carried out in the production line in Świętochłowice after the installation of a new zinc bath tub and will allow for adaptation of the production process of sheets with coating
