The aim of the project is to develop a new, light, exhaust traction unit for long-distance traffic that meets the requirements of all applicable standards in terms of technical specifications for interoperability (TSI). To this end, the project will create a prototype of a new vehicle, which will use an innovative design inspired by the technology of semi-repair construction, used in aircraft construction. The innovative construction will significantly reduce the total weight of the new vehicle measured by the ratio of weight to floor surface (m²) in the passenger compartment. The new design will also solve the technical problem of folding sheets, which will improve the assembly process and allow more new vehicles to be delivered in the future in an even shorter time. In addition, the project will also develop a new compact functional system of components of the propulsion unit, which will eliminate the negative phenomena of the so-called. ‘thermal couplings’ and ‘air circulation irregularities’. The prototype of a light diesel traction unit constructed within the Project will be the most modern Polish vehicle in its class, which will be fully tested in the scope of TSI standards, including in particular requirements for vehicle construction and resistance to four collision scenarios, materials used for the construction of rail vehicles, vehicle adaptation for disabled persons and noise emission requirements. The overarching document setting out the requirements for all new rolling stock in the trans-European conventional rail system is CR TSI Loc&Pas.
