Despite the growing awareness of linking the composition of the intestinal microbiome to various types of diseases, there is no collection of information about reference microbiomes in Poland. The creation of this type of collection will enable Poland to conduct research in the field of linking components of bacterial flora to life style, individual diseases or patient response to the treatment used. Taking as an example countries such as the United States, we propose to create a unique set of scientific information, describing the variability of microbiomes of Polish residents (Map of Mikrobiom Poland) by providing solid data describing the variability of intestinal microbiomes within the Polish population. Furthermore, through the definition of the Data Purchase Protocol, research by MMP users will be comparable to the information collected in the MMP. The result of the project will be a tool for all fields of natural sciences, especially disciplines such as genetics, medicine, pharmacology, biochemistry and bioinformatics.
