The main objective of the project is to develop a new generation of Hydrobox products. They will be the result of multidisciplinary industrial and development research in key national specialisations. The new generation of products will include: biodegradable version, version containing fertilising substances and carriers of biological plant protection products together with an extended version. The new products will be adapted to applications in areas with particularly unfavourable habitat conditions, will allow for efficient water saving used for irrigation and will improve the safety of earth structures. There is currently no such or similar technology on a global scale. The implementation of the project will contribute to the competitiveness of the Polish economy and will significantly change the market of soil conditioners. Hydrobox is an innovative, patented EU soil water retention technology that saves water, increases yields, increases biomass growth and improves the safety of earth structures. They are currently used in environmental engineering (floods, road slopes, landfills), in urban greenery, as well as planting trees, shrubs and perennials, and cultivation of berry plants. Hydroboxes were developed at the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław, which granted a license to Geotabo sp. z o.o. These are spatial structures designed to capture and store water in soil. The water contained inside the geocomposite is available to plants, helps them to grow faster and increases their resistance to droughts, water deficits. Hydrobox technology breaks the barrier to the effective use of superabsorbents in soil.
