Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract with an increasing worldwide incidence. In view of the lack of understanding of the pathogenesis of IBD and efficient, yet free of side effects treatments, in this proposal we attempt to verify whether the Free Fatty Acid receptor-dependent pathway is involved in intestinal inflammation and if it may become a possible target in IBD therapy.
