Project titled “Evaluation of the ecosystems of Babio Góra National Park by means of modern remote sensing methods” aims to assess the natural state of protected areas within the Babio Góra National Park, included in the world network of Biosphere Reserves, including the site of the Natura 2000 site “Babia Góra”: PLB120011 and PLH120001. Babio Góra National Park was established under the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on 30 October 1954. It was amended by the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 08.08.1997r on Babio Góra National Park (Dz. U. No. 99 pos. 608) increasing the area of the park to 3391.55 ha. The object covered by the assessment of the state of natural resources occurs in Małopolskie voivodship on the border of two counties of Suskie and Novetarski (map with the location of the project area in the annex). The main area of natural status assessment is an area of 34 km². The main objectives of the project are: 1. Obtaining up-to-date remote sensing data enabling analyses and assessment of the nature of Babio Góra National Park. 2. Use the information obtained to manage BgPN’s resources properly. 3. Extension of BgPN’s public information activities to include new elements covering project issues. 4. Acquiring hardware and software to process acquired data, increase knowledge and skills. Thanks to the above objectives, the management of the natural resources of the Babio Góra National Park will be able to verify the current natural state and take appropriate decisions regarding the further conservation strategy of the areas covered by the project. The data obtained will also allow to carry out appropriate information and promotional activities of the BgPN nature society.
