The aim of the project is to improve the conservation status of high mountain natural habitats Natura 2000 and endangered plant and animal species by reducing tourist pressure on the ecosystems of the High Tatras. The selected area in which the project will be implemented includes the upper parts of Dol. The caterpillar, Dol. The Lordships, Dol. The mites, Dol. Five Polish Ponds and Dol. It’s a fish stream. The area is entirely located in a strict protection zone, where the primary objective is to protect natural natural processes, and active protection tasks are limited almost exclusively to natural monitoring, minimisation of anthropopression on species and habitats, e.g. through modernisation and maintenance of tourist infrastructure (trails), or the elimination of unnecessary infrastructure. The following actions are planned under the project: — Modernisation of 41.326 km of trails in the High Tatras region through renovation of the pavement, ensuring dehydration and protection against erosion of degraded areas in the vicinity of paths. This will affect the channelling of tourist traffic on paths, inhibited trampling of Natura 2000 habitats in their immediate vicinity and the regeneration of degraded habitats. In order to protect valuable plant species against damage or destruction, botanical supervision of field work will be carried out. — Reducing the penetration of animals by reducing illegal hiking and skiing. In the area of illegal paths, 10 photo traps with GSM module will be installed, which will be used to intervene by the Park’s employees. — Liquidation of the remains of former forest management through the demolition of shelters of forest workers, which are used for illegal camping.
